Dr. Abell Thomas G. - Ophthalmology / Oftalmologia

Dr Abell graduated with distinction from the University of Kentucky. He then served his internship in Internal Medicine at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, from 1981 until 1982. He afterwards underwent an additional training in Ophthalmology at the University of Kentucky from 1982 until 1985 as a chief resident. Dr Abell has been in practice since 1985. He is a board certified ophthalmologist VISX certified LASIK instructor.

His large experience is recognized internationally and Dr. Abell was one of twenty eye surgeons to be presented a Gold Award from the Summit Autonomous APEX Plus Society at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons 2000 Meeting in Boston,MA. Dr. Abell is currently a core investigator for the Wave-light Allegretto Excimer Laser. In addition, he's had a refractive surgery himself and has even performed the procedure on his oldest daughter.

Dr Abell is a member of numerous professional organizations. He has lectured extensively, discussing and demonstrating the latest techniques in eye surgery. Dr Abell currently serves as Medical Director and Surgeon at Lexington Laser Eye Center, Lexington, KY and at the Eye Institute of Central Kentucky, Lexington and Campbellsville, KY. He also serves as member of the active staff at theTaylor County Hospital, Campbellsville, KY.
