Dr. David Beck

General Surgery

   
Dr. Beck received his M.D. degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine Miami, Florida in the late 1970's. He afterwards performed his residency in General Surgery at the Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center (WHMC), at Lackland AFB, Texas. He then specialized in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, in Cleveland Ohio. He is Board Certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery.

Dr. Beck returned to join the surgical staff to WHMC in 1986. He worked there until 1992. He has held there the position of Chairman and Director of the Residency Program in the Department of General Surgery. From 1990 to 1992 he was Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center (San Antonio). In 1993 he joined the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans, where he serves as Chairman of the Department of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He is also Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences Bethesda, MD.

Dr. Beck has published numerous articles and several textbooks. He serves on the Editorial Boards of "Current Surgery" and "Perspectives in Colon and Rectal Surgery". In addition, he is a Reviewer for "Diseases of the Colon & Rectum" and the "Southern Medical Journal".
