Dr. Peter M. Black Neurosurgery Dr. Black is one of the most famous neurosurgeons in the world. He received his M.D. degree from the McGill University, Montreal, Canada, in 1970. After graduating he served his Internship in Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA, where he afterwards served as Assistant Resident in Surgery from 1971 until 1972. He performed his Neurosurgery Residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital from 1975 until 1980. Dr. Black is an American Board Certified Neurological Surgeon.

His teaching activities include Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Harvard Medical School, from 1980 until 1984; Associate Professor of Surgery at the Harvard Medical School, from 1984 until 1987; Franc D. Ingraham Professor of Neurosurgery at the Harvard Medical School, since 1987. Dr. Black has been Neurosurgeon-in-Chief at both the Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Children's Hospital since 1987. He has been Chief of Neurosurgical Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute since 1987. In addition, he has served as Consultant in Neurosurgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital since 1992.

Dr. Black is an expert in brain tumors both in adults and in children, skull base and pituitary tumors, epilepsy and hydrocephalus. He is the author of over 250 publications in this field. In addition, he has performed over 1600 brain tumor operations since coming to the Brigham and Women's and Children's Hospitals.
