Dr. Robert Beart is a graduate of the prestigious Harward University. He received his surgical training at the Colorado University and the Mayo Clinic. He is specialized in General Surgery and in Colorectal Surgery. In 1976 he joined the Mayo Clinic, where he worked until 1992. From 1992 he's been practicing at the University of Southern California. His primary areas of interest are the following: treatment of colorectal cancer, Crohn's disease, chronic, ulcerative colitis, fecal continence preservation.

Dr. Beart is a member of numerous scientific societies, including the "American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons", where he served as president from 1991 until 1992 and the "Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons". Many international Institutes, including the Rome Cancer Institute, where he has been Honorary Professor, have honoured him.
